IMPORTANT CHANGES TO THE WALL HOUSE SURGERY TRAVEL IMMUNISATION SERVICE

Please note that with immediate effect the Practice will only be able to offer vaccines for travel that are available on the NHS.

The NHS vaccines, free to patients are:
Hepatitis A    - To be given as 1st injection then booster at 6/12 months (lasts 20 years)
Typhoid        - Lasts 3 years
Tetanus        - Lasts 10 years
Diptheria      - Lasts 10 years
Cholera        - Required per trip
Using Patient Access you can see what immunisations you have had or alternatively ask at the surgery for a print out.

PRIVATE VACCINATIONS:

Where private vaccinations are required, patients should make an appointment with a Private Travel Clinic; a list of these can be found on the internet.

Private vaccinations are:
Yellow fever
Rabies
Japanese Encephalitis
Hepatitis B
** Please note that these appointments should be booked at the private clinic well in advance of travelling as these vaccines need to be given over a period of at least 1 month prior to travel.

In essence, the Wall House Surgery will NOT be running an extended travel clinic service and we will no longer be a yellow fever vaccination centre.

INFORMATION FOR THE PATIENTS
In the first instance patients who are travelling should go to the “FIT FOR TRAVEL" website to ascertain what travel vaccinations they require for their destination.  If they are NHS vaccinations, book an appointment with the practice and complete a Travel Risk Assessment Form (which can be downloaded from our website or picked up at reception)
