PHLEBOTOMY APPOINTMENTS AT THE WALL HOUSE AND AT EAST SURREY HOSPITAL
GP Phlebotomy Appointments at the Practice
We continue to offer blood test appointments here at The Wall House Surgery (Around 1000 per month) although this is not contractual work, we have decided that this is best for our patients.
If you have been asked by one of our clinicians to book a blood test, or have been called by a member of our team to book a blood test for medication reviews or chronic disease management; then you can either:
· Use your NHS App to find an appointment (keep checking daily as patients often cancel or re-arrange tests and more open daily)
· Call the practice to book an appointment
· Submit an online form and ask for a link to book a blood test
You can also use this service to book a blood test if you have a form already from another clinician and you bring this with you on the day of the appointment.
If you would like to have your blood test at the hospital then following discussions this week in regards to a new booking system, please see the details below:
GP Phlebotomy Appointment System at East Surrey Hospital
The Phlebotomy Departments at Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust have finalised arrangements for the introduction of an online appointment system to be used for patient blood tests called SwiftQueue. This Trust-wide service will allow patients to book blood test appointments in advance for the first time - replacing our current walk-in model and significantly improving service efficiency, reducing waiting times, and enhancing patient experience. Berkshire and Surrey Pathology Services (BSPS) has already successfully implemented SwiftQueue across several acute Trusts, delivering positive outcomes.
The new booking system will launch on Monday 3rd March 2025, giving patients the option to book appointments. The first bookable appointments will be on Monday 10th March at East Surrey Hospital and 1st April 2025 at Crawley and Horsham Hospitals. While we encourage patients to make use of this booking system as soon as possible the Trust will also continue to accept walk-in appointments until 31st March 2025 at all sites.
Patients can go to the online booking website, to make their GP Blood Test appointment in advance. Patient’s family members should be encouraged to make appointments online for them, if they themselves have no access to online services.
Online Appointment Healthcare Platform | Swiftqueue
Patients unable to access the online booking system can book appointments by calling the Helpdesk on 03006 134117 between Mon- Fri 8am-8pm
Patients who have additional requirements e.g. needle phobia or other issues can add this to their appointment so that any reasonable adjustments can be made.
Please note that if a patient is more than 15 minutes late for their appointment, they will have the choice of either waiting until the next available slot that day if there is one available or rebooking for another day.
As part of this change, from 1st April the service will no longer accept walk-in patients. However, a daily allocation of urgent appointment slots will be reserved for patients who require on-the-day blood tests, ensuring they receive the necessary care while on site.
